Guo Liqun, Ma Shidong
2005, 19(3): 109-112.
Abstract:
Two multi-story buildings are built at soft ground conditions. PHC pipe pile foundation is proposed in the original design. The installation of PHC pipe piles are blocked by boulders and strip stone foundation of the old port relic. After further investigation and study, an alternative design using of Deep Cement Mixing Columns with geogrid reinforced underlying layer was proposed to replace the PHC pipe piles. One of the two buildings is constructed. The plat loading test and settlement monitoring results show that the bearing capacity of the composite foundation and the building settlements satisfy the design criteria and specifications. Comparing to original design, the alternative design is more cost-effective.

2005, 19(3): 113-117,122.
Abstract:
The present situation of the intensity zonation of karst development is discussed, and the regulation of the vertical zonation of karst development is proposed. Through taking the karst rate in borehole, the dimension of karst cave and the outflow or leakage water in borehole as quantitative indices, and the feature of stratum, the feature of geoloyical structure and the flow pattern of groundwater as qualitative indices, karst intensity is classified into intensive, mediate and gentle zones, and the intensity grades of karst development are determined by analogism, main factor and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.
Parameter Inversion of Large Underground Cavities and Engineering Application

2005, 19(3): 118-122.
Abstract:
Combined with the Xi'longci pumped storage hydroplane project, the several segments having obvious difference in engineering, are simulated by small models based on the three-dimensional FEM and genetic algorithm. The back-analysis parmeters are obtained and input the whole FEM model to compute the displacement around caverns, stress of anchor bar, etc. Matched with observing date, in view of the preceding work, the No.2 excavation is calculated. It calculates successfully the displacement of around caverns, the stability of sum wnding rock, the stress of anchor bar and cable, etc, reveals the stress concentration and potential failure parts of the surrounding rock. It has important directive function.
Research on the Feature of Red Clay in Dalian
Lin Shiwen, Cai Qiujing, Lin Jun
2005, 19(3): 123-126.
Abstract:
The developed red clay exists in Dalian district. Through being compared with limestone and clay in chemical composition, the reasons why some elements of the red clay run off or collect are analyzed. In order to reveal its peculiar physical characteristics, the water invade test and the soil body shrink test on the red clay are respectively carried out in aboriginal and air-dried state. Through the test resuts, some phenomena of the red clay are explained, such as the irrecoverability of this red clay disintegrated by water, and the stability of earth body excaved at natural moisture condition.
Linear Elastic Analysis of Stress in Surrounding Rock of Double Tunnles
Xu Rundong, Xu Linsheng
2005, 19(3): 127-129.
Abstract:
The stress analysis is very important in tunnel design. Many results are obtained for the case of single tunnel. Due to the influence of each other, the analysis for two circular tunnels is difficult by mathematic method. The linear elastic problem of surrounding rock of two circular tunnels are studied by means of complex variable method. Through engineering examples, the characteristics of stress of two circular tunnels are obtained, and the obtained results can be applied to the analysis of two circular tunnels.

Duan Gang, Bai Mingzhou, Hu Xiaoming
2005, 19(3): 130-133.
Abstract:
Expansive soil consists of montmorillonite and illite, which are all clay minerals with strong hydrophilicity,so it is a kind of clay with high plasticity, and has characteristics of high swelling or shrinking deformation, crack and over consolidation In the construction of the railway, expansive soil can not be used as the road bed directly, without being improved. The change regularity of the mechanical character of lime improved expansive soil under the influence of the various factors is discussed

Hu Hua
2005, 19(3): 134-136.
Abstract:
Through contrast experiment indoor, the characteristics of soft-soil's initial shear strength and plastic viscosity influencend by water content are studied. The influencing mechanism of water content on rheological parameters is researched by using the technology of structure micrograph.
Analysis of the Influence of Ground Unequal Settlement on the Structure with Three-dimensional Elastic Support Model Method
Wang Hui, Wu Shengfa, Sun Zuoyu
2005, 19(3): 137-140.
Abstract:
Some engineering problems are caused by ground unequal settlements. In order to investigate the influence of the ground unequal settlements on the superstructure, a finite element method simulating ground(or pile ground) is developed by three-dimensional elastic support, which could integrally analyze the interaction among structure, foundation and ground. The comparative analysis among three-dimensianal elastic support, the elastic support model and immobility model for the example of the Crystal Stone Lobby of Juvenile Palace in Shenzhen is done by the ANSYS software of FEM. The method has been proved rationality. Some important conclusions will give advice to structural design.

2005, 19(3): 141-143,151.
Abstract:
In order to supply some availabble suggestions for common engineers to differentiate the composite ground and the composite pile foundation, the contact and difference between the composite ground and the composite pile foundation are narrated from distinct ways.

2005, 19(3): 144-147.
Abstract:
A new method to infer the probabilistic density functions of geotechnical parameter is presented. Based on numerical approximation theory, the Legendre polynomial is introduced to match the probabilistic density function of geotechnical random parameters. 2005, 19(3): 160-163.
Abstract:
There are some softer accumulation horizon in the ox-bow lake and season river on the huge mucky soil of alluvial and lacustrine deposits in accumulation terrace around Dongting lake. In the case of load action.it would occur compressing settlement and creeping settlement, and the settlement and incline of building will be increased when it acted each other with mucky soil. According to the properties of lime and soft clay, we could effectively resist sliding and settling and rectify incline of building by using limepiles and stress relieving method,in order to reach the aim of rectification and conslolidatlon.
