Implement Methods and Effects of Viscous-spring Artificial Boundary in Seismic Analysis of Embankments

  • Combined with an embankment engineering on the downstream of Min River in Fujian province, a simple and convenient implementation method of viscous-spring artificial boundary, dynamic responses of the embankment by the nonlinear finite element program,and discussed the dynamic response characteristic of different boundary conditions. The results showed that, dynamic response of embankment and foundation were decelerated significantly when considering the foundation radiation damping effect of the traditional fixed boundary condition, and research demonstrated satisfactory coincidence between experimental results and these obtained by simulation described in this article. The course of computing is simplified and the precision has improvement in a certain extent.
