Based on the constitutive equations of a transversely isotropic foundation whose isotropic plane is horizontal,those of a transversely isotropic foundation whose istropic plane is inclined are presented.And on the basis of certain postulates,the computational methods about gravity stress of a transversely isotropic foundation in the above two conditions are obtained.The results of examples in this paper are accord with the measured gravity value.According to the results,those important actual measurements can be explained that horizontal stress is larger than vertical stress and horizontal stress is anisotropic on the aspect of gravity.
