This paper proposed the more practicable calculating method to the settlement of pile foundation based on the obtained experience and the Mindlin theory about the stress distribution and the analysis of the stress diffusion angle. And expounded that the pile foundation can be set in the silty and fine sand stratum in the depth of 30~40m.
