Further Study on Forecasting Model of Main-dam's Deformation
2001, 15(3): 125-129.
Abstract:
Directing the problems of the forecasting model of main-dam's deformation based on sing-factor or mutiple-factor,a sort of forecasting model of main-dam's deformation is put forward which has higher-precision than others through the injection of two independent variables, water level and time. The adoption of coefficient, bidirection optimun seeking methed are adopted. This forecasting model has been compared with quadratic sum of suplus difference, standard suplus difference and pertinent index number.
Comparison between Rankine’s Earth Pressure Theory and Coulomb's Earth Pressure Theory under Uniform Loading
2001, 15(3): 130-133,141.
Abstract:
Rankine's earth pressure theory and Coulomb's earth pressure theory are the two basic theories in the analysis of earth pressure on retaining walls.Though the two theories have been widely used, how to use them properly is still a problem to be concerned.Otherwise, great error may be induced.Different methods based on the two theories to analyze the earth pressure on a retaining wall are presented and compared while the wall is loaded with a uniform load.It is thought that this paper may be of some use in the further understanding of the two theories.

Abstract:
The characteristics of collapsible loess soil are discussed. An improved method for calculating the collapsible deformation is proposed. This method has super practical meaning for designing the foundation of structure buildings.
Discussion on Research Method of Shear Strength of Unsaturated Soil
2001, 15(3): 142-145.
Abstract:
The applicability and shortage of the former formula about shear strength of unsaturated soil are analyzed. Some new formula put forward in these years are introduced. The exponential function or power function relation between shear strength and water content of clay silt soils are confirmed by test. This is a reference of the formula to be used in engineering practice.
P-K Method Used in Determining Vertical Bearing Capacity of Individual Pile
2001, 15(3): 146-149,154.
Abstract:
In order to provide economic and reasonable vertical bearing capacity of individual pile for pile-foundation design and comparison between dynamic test and static load test by a large number of incomplete vertical compression static load tests of individual pile in practical work, according to the typical features of general P-s curve,a new method is suggested to determine vertical yield load of individual pile and deduce vertical ultimate load of individual pile by incomplete tests.
Geometrical Construction Method Used in Analyzing Horizontal Imparity Distribution of Soil Water Content
2001, 15(3): 150-154.
Abstract:
By means of the mechanism that climatic cyclical variation affect water content of expansive soil foundation bed,the method of geometrical construction basing on the depth of influence is established. The horizontal imparity distribution of water content of expansive soil foundation bed is analyzed by using the methods.
Fuzzy Evaluation for Seismic Liquefaction Discrimination of Sands
2001, 15(3): 155-158,164.
Abstract:
Fuzzy optimal evaluation is adopted to discriminate seismic liquefaction of sands.Considering the affects of the earthquake intensity, mean diameter of sand grain,SPT counts and effective overburden stress, the optimal subordinate vector is determined to act as the code of liquefaction.Combining with case histories, the model applied to evaluating seismic liquefaction is demonstrated.
Discussion on Unsteady Seepage Flow Method in Designing Dykes
2001, 15(3): 159-160.
Abstract:
The steady seepage flow is usually hypothesized in designing dykes.Based on this hypothesis, the form of dykes is decided by analyzing seepage flowing and slide stability. But if the freshet ebbs and flows too quickly, the time of freshet is so short that the seepage flowing is unsteady. If we design the dyke with this hypothesis, the scale will be too large, and it will be too expensive. The method of unsteady seepage flow used in designing the dyke with this kind of river is studied and discussed.
Research of Frozen and Melt Test
2001, 15(3): 161-164.
Abstract:
The theoretical basis for reinforcing of dynamic compaction in winter and treating the frozen soil layer is presented. At the test site,a certain volume of unfrozen soil is put into a steely container in which horizontal dilatable force is limited entirely. The natural freeze and melt are simulated. The slack quantity of frozen soil layer is calculated. The form and use of the slack quantity are explained.

Abstract:
The technique of splitting grouting is an effective and economical way for earth-fill dam seepage control.Based on engineering practice,a new way,the way of trying pressure of solving grouting pressure,is proposed. Its mechanism, feasibility, application, range, processes and demands for pressure control, grouting control and its advantages are discussed in details.
